Interweaving seemingly-unrelated narrative and physicality, launching an unsuspected and unimagined approach to interpreting song, performer and vocalist Shuya Fan, alone on stage, collaborating with French artist David Vaughn, plays, sings, talks and acts, framing her original lyrics and music in visual poetry, space strung with a thousand sheets of paper, scattered with tiny personal objects, singing wine glasses, music boxes, pianos, a handful of ghostly whispering video images – and above all the subtle intensity of shared emotion. This album extracts ten songs recorded during that live solo performance. Echos, remnants, traces. Intimate songs grappling with the trials and delights of daily life, the sequels of childhood, the enigmas of memory.
