Darius Scott's composition, "Yeah, Way!" has also been recorded previously on an album by the Michael Thomas quintet. The title, a statement often heard in response to the exclamation, "No way!", is a composition paying indisputable homage to the Bobby Timmons classic hard bop anthem, "Moanin" made so famous by the great Art Blakey and his Jazz Messengers. The long form of the theme pushes the familiar call and response format into a journey through harmonic tension before launching into a back-beat solo section. Recorded live at a cafe in Baltimore, Maryland, it is reflective of the spontaneous, yet fleeting nature of the jazz scene in that city. This was an event which had plans to become a regular monthly gathering for children and adults alike. Yet as is often the case in a struggling economy, the venue faded away almost as quickly as it emerged. Yet the recording endures. Enjoy!
