The title of this CD is taken from a review in the New York Times by James Oestreich after the stunning performance of Candide in Carnegie Hall’s Gala Celebration of Bernstein’s 100th birthday. This esteemed critic singled out the Mansfield University singers, who provided the choruses for the production. “Somewhat overshadowed by all of this was the superb work of the Mansfield University Concert Choir of Pennsylvania, long directed by Peggy Dettwiler.” He then included our performance of “Make Our Garden Grow,” which concludes this CD. Oestreich named the review, “Choral Gardens.”
