"Middle of Nowhere" is the debut album of Singer/Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Devin Rae. It flaunts lyrical imagery that catapults you into the story that each individual song has to tell. Add to that the winning combination of Western, Traditional Country, and Country Rock music, and "Middle of Nowhere" has become a toe-tapping collection of originality. Born and raised in a small farming community in southeastern Idaho, Devin Rae developed a love for agriculture and the Western way of life, very early on. Her fondest childhood memories are generally splattered with images of riding on a swather with her grandfather, or working horses from sun up to sun down, all summer long. "I learned at a very young age that nothing good comes without a lot of hard work," says the singer. "Whether I was perfecting a violin piece for a competition, or trying to put a good handle on a horse, I knew that I wouldn't excel if I didn't give it my all." "Middle of Nowhere" is a manifestation of that very work ethic, as it was written, recorded, and otherwise produced almost entirely by Devin Rae, herself. Her debut album came to light about a year and a half after Devin got married and moved halfway across the country to a tiny town in Southwest Kansas. "'Middle of Nowhere' is a direct reflection on the experiences I have had while living in Kansas. Not only have I learned a lot about myself while being way out here, but it seems like you can see for a hundred miles, in every direction, when you step outside," she chuckles. Her lyrics convey honest, straight-forward messages, and the listener can almost feel the genuine emotion with which each song was crafted. Amongst the rise of negativity that surrounds us, today, this album is a breath of fresh air. It will make you long for the good ol' days, and help you push through the hard times, but most of all leave you with the feeling that life is good.
