简介

Four years in the making, and 10 songs in length, Goodwin's latest release "2" ups the ante for this Texas power-pop group. The sound is tighter and more consistent than the 2004 self-titled debut, but the trademark Goodwin sound is still there: walls of guitar, propulsive rhythms, and penetrating voices. In addition to a more polished sound, "2" also showcases the songwriting abilities of Daniel Gomez. There is no waste here ... each word is examined, measured, and perfectly placed, drenched in emotion and pouring heart out onto the dusty floor. What have the critics said about Goodwin's 2? Goodwin "Two Again" Goodwin's debut was an outstanding mix of killer rock and smart hook filled melodies. It's been a few years in the making, but the follow up "2" is almost ready, and this track from the new album shows that the band has matured in it's production and songwriting, and added a notch on the rock out factor, without losing any of the melody. This is one of those bands to keep a close eye/ear on... Killer stuff from a great band! -- PopBang.com review of "Two Again" I’ll admit that I’m one who generally prefers live electricity over studio polish, but purely on its own terms, Goodwin’s 2 is a finely-wrought example of that rarity, the Big Rock Record. The painstaking (and somewhat glacial) process of its creation paid off in a work that’s rich in sonic detail (kudos to Fort Worth Sound’s Bart Rose for the mix), none of which would matter if the songs didn’t deliver the emotional wallop that they do. -- Ken Shimamoto, ILoveFtw.com Following 2004's self-titled debut, 2 is 10 tracks of up-tempo rock that has its roots in the pummeling melodies of Foo Fighters and Cheap Trick, with a dash of All-American Rejects gloss thrown in for good measure. Vocalist Tony Diaz's muscular work holds these winning songs together (he's aided by guitarist/vocalist Daniel Gomez, bassist Matt Hembree and drummer Damien Stewart); highlights include Revelation of Revolution, Progress and Grace. -- Preston Jones, Fort Worth Star-Telegram Goodwin 2 is relentlessly brutal but in the most pleasing, charming manner, like what I’ve always imagined being beaten up by Muhammad Ali would feel like: Though your ears are ringing and your solar plexus is sore, you want the fight to keep going, just so you can keep watching him. “Just take a seat, pretty boy,” the champ says, reassuringly and somewhat sympathetically. “It’ll be over soon.” -- Anthony Mariani, Fort Worth Weekly
