Spawned from a bedroom project, The Spiral quickly exploded onto the music scene as a high energy rock performance. The release of this first full-length album is just another benchmark placing them into the spiraling world of modern rock. It's easy enough to find brilliant music in the underground these days, but it's not likely to find something novel yet so familiar that its audience is left with nostalgic sentimentality. The five friends aim to please their listeners with nuances of alternative pop and indie rock, each introducing the heart of their individual influences into the collective. The sound is a melodious melding of the modern underground and the classics. The Spiral sends a shout-out through their songs to bands ranging from Pavement, The Replacements and Nirvana to Modest Mouse, The National and The Strokes. The Spiral is defined by heavy droning rifts woven with pleasant melodies while Melancholy lyrics are paved with the singers pining vocals.
