Sails of Serenity was formed in Istanbul, Turkey towards the end of 2013. The band consists of Selim Devirek on vocals, Sercan Alkın and Harun Sekmen on guitars, Umut Batuhan Kızıltepe on bass and Erdem Karahan on drums. The reason why the band name their music "Modern Metal" is because they are neither too seperate from the old school Heavy Metal roots, nor too into them. The musical backgrounds that each member come from are varied so we see a blended genre with both new and old sounds.

The band started playing some show in their own town after the completion of their members. After playing lots of cover songs on stage, they finally started to write their own music. After a careful recording session, here we are with the band's first EP "Gold to Rust"
