T.K. Gardner is an experienced performer, classically trained, as well as a gifted arranger. This CD is the culmination of his artistry applied to 17 wonderful and well-known songs. As an artist T.K. Gardner strives to reach deeply into the soul of a song, and make it live in the imagination of the listener. Each performance is detailed in approach, but has a musical integrity that makes clear the love that T.K. has for each of these songs. Additionally the instrument that T.K. plays on this CD is the unusual 8-string guitar, which has an added richness owing to the unique construction of the guitar: the strings are dramatically longer, the body considerably larger and the range much wider than a traditional classical guitar. All of the songs were recorded in the intimate setting of a small studio in an attempt to recreate the sound of T.K. Gardner performing live, with all of the emotional and musical depth that would be experienced in a live performance. "Dolcemente con espressione" is more than a lovely compilation of cover songs, it is an "homage" to the songs that T.K. Gardner has grown up with, performed thousands of times, and on this CD, treats with all of the respect and affection that an artist can only display after a lifetime of musical seasoning.
