简介

Call Me Tonight is the first single from Columbus, OH based high-energy pop/country band The Black Pearls. It was written and recorded in guitarist John McGuire’s recording studio, J-Mac Studios, in Cincinnati, OH. The band foundation is based on the Tulsa, Oklahoma-born lead singer Brian Panke and Ohio-bred Drew Phillips (guitar/vocals). The duo began to collaborate on songwriting that focused on their shared pop and country sensibilities, and their collaboration quickly evolved into the formation of the Black Pearls. Panke, a performing staple on the Columbus music scene, ventured to Columbus, OH from Tulsa in 2000 when he was given the opportunity chase his dreams playing baseball for the Ohio State Buckeyes. During his time at Ohio State, he discovered a love for stories and composition and their relationship with writing and performing music. Brian frequently crossed paths with Drew which led to songwriting sessions based on mutual love for pop, country and harmony. The two principals meshed well together and continued writing songs and recording demos. Brian and Drew recruited bassist Ed Steiger for his soaring high-harmony voice, bass guitar skills, and exceptional musical talents. Soon after, the band added Adam Phillips (identical twin brother to Drew) on drums/vocals and enlisted studio producer/engineer/guitarist John McGuire on lead guitar. Drew and John shared similar professional background experience, having both played for previous MCA Records recording artist July For Kings. Drew also has past experience in Pay the Girl (TVT Records). Drew has worked with famed rock producer Rick Parashar in Seattle, WA for the debut national release "Pay the Girl," that netted two Billboard hot 100 singles- "Gravity" and "Freeze." "Clueless", another single from the record, was featured in the movie “Swimfan," a 20th Century Fox release. An offer from Shakira to open for her "Tour of the Mongoose” soon followed, and Pay the Girl performed various dates on the North American leg of her tour. John, a graduate from the College Conservatory of Music, has worked with several artists from the Cincinnati, OH music scene throughout his career. He is credited mixing tracks on major releases. The Black Pearls are known for their rock n roll layered guitars and vocal harmonies. With their unique and collective professional backgrounds, The Black Pearls provide a strong classic pop combined with a modern country sensibility to their songwriting and performing. The band is quickly grabbing a foothold in the competitive Columbus music scene with their muscular live performances. The band is currently in the studio working on their debut release.
