I love my job! These are the words you would hear from the effervescent Mr Alan Gregory at the end of each gig. From humble beginnings and at the age of 7 with his two elder brothers he attended RSM classical piano lessons. It was during his years at junior school where he first heard his teacher playing boogie woogie, from then on he was hooked on rock and roll. School concerts gave him his first stage debut and the taste of playing to a live audience (albeit Mums and Dads) By the age of 10, Alan wasn’t satisfied with just the piano, he felt the need to learn rhythm guitar and was a natural at this, singing along at every opportunity with innocence still in his voice. He was quite a little brain box (although he wouldn’t admit it) as in his early teens won a scholarship to The Trinity School of Music where he continued to study both piano and classical guitar, taking every opportunity, (as he is quite cheeky) to play honky-tonk. At the tender age of 16, along with two friends, formed his first band called ‘Avalanche’ where he gained his first experience of playing Rock ‘n’ Roll music in pubs and clubs.In 1991, Alan became hooked on Country (and has never looked back) when invited to join the newly formed Stone Mountain Country Band. This group of five spent many a happy year playing to the Country Music Line Dancing scene. During this time, Alan still hankered to work on personal projects and was often found working in his own music studio at home. 2001. After ten happy and memorable years on the road with the band, Alan decided it was time to move on, enabling him to concentrate on a solo career. He immersed himself into plans and preparations for this new project, using his Yamaha keyboard, guitar and PC. Time was spent recording, arranging and producing his backing tracks. He is very proud of the fact that all of the music used in his performances is his own. All the hard work over the years has come into fruition and Alan now has a very busy and full diary, entertaining all over the country. When making a booking you will probably speak to his very lovely and friendly wife Jackie. Jackie goes to many of the gigs being there to support Alan and you will often see her at the end of the gig, unplugging wires and packing away equipment enabling Alan to speak to his many fans that travel far and wide to see him. Alan is now the proud owner of the title ‘Line dance Entertainer of the Year 2011’. This award was bestowed upon him by the British Country Music Association. This accolade is justly deserved, proof of which was shown by the many votes he accumulated, as he was up against many great ‘Acts’. He feels very proud and honoured and would like to pay special thanks to everybody that took the time and trouble to vote for him. Once again it proves that all Alan’s hard work and determination to be one of the best has paid off and not forgetting that this was achieved with the help of his wife Jackie. He can be found performing throughout the UK at Country Music and Line Dance Clubs and at many of the festivals and organised weekenders
