简介

Chicago-based jazz singer Jen Zias began interpreting the works of legendary songwriters such as Cole Porter, George Gershwin and Sammy Cahn while still in high school. The East Coast native moved to Chicago in the mid-90's and began her professional career within weeks of her arrival. Over the past decade, Jen has impressed audiences with her diverse repertoire and arresting voice. The Illinois Entertainer calls her a cross between "the great Annie Ross and Rickie Lee Jones." She has performed hundreds of times throughout the midwest as a solo performer and featured vocalist for several of the area's finest orchestras, and has appeared on television in The Jenny Jones Show and Wild Chicago. Her debut CD, Take Me With You covers songs from many of the last century's most popular composers: Gershwin, Johnny Mercer, Jimmy Van Heusen, John Mandel, Peggy Lee, and Alan and Marilyn Bergman, among others. It features one of Jen's own compositions, "Can't I Lie?", and the debut recording of the Emily Dickinson poem, "Wild Nights", beautifully set to music by composer Glenn Mehrbach. This recording is Jen’s tribute to her past four years of performance at the legendary Pump Room in Chicago’s Ambassador East Hotel, at one time the steady gig of Frank Sinatra and Peggy Lee. A collaboration between Jen and her wonderful trio, Take Me... features some of Chi-town's finest players: Dennis Anderson on piano, Joe Policastro on bass, and Corey Radford on drums. It's dinner music at its most appetizing, meant to be danced to with a loved one, or shared with friends over a glass of wine.
