Outta Control (O.C.T.) is a hip hop group that was formed in South Lake Tahoe California, and is currently located in San Diego California. The group consists of three members: brothers PP (P for short) and Z-Jones, and Timmy B. Though they all currently live in southern California the three MC's are from the mid west: PP and Z-Jones were born in Chicago and moved to Detroit in 1999 while Timmy B has lived everywhere from Chicago to Detroit and even did a 3 year stay in England. This diversity brings both depth and range to the groups’ sound, which has been described as a “Party Vibe” comparable to artists such as the Beastie Boys, Swollen Members and Jurassic 5. Although the music has a “feel good vibe”, focusing on the lyrics will allow you to uncover their ability to musically discuss REAL topics that REAL people can relate to. Their shows have been described as fast paced, high energy and unique due to the fact that they incorporate live guitar and play with a drummer whenever possible which adds a whole new dimension to their performances. PP and Z-Jones have been playing guitar and writing songs for over 10 years together. Timmy B also has over ten years playing experience as bassist. The group has been influenced by all genres of music, including artists ranging from Steve Miller and Slightly Stoopid, to Jay-Z and Ludacris. During the bands’ three year career they have made some impressive accomplishments. They have done over 100 live performances in states all over the nation, received press in The Lake Tahoe Tribune, Tahoe Action, the San Diego Reader Review, and Skunk Magazine. The MC/producers have performed with artists such as Swollen Members, One Block Radius, Sweatshop Union, Living Legends, Mixmaster Mike of the Beastie Boys, Zion I, The Alchemist, Dilated Peoples, Tech 9ne, The Coup and many others. They have also performed at the Source Magazine Source of Hip Hop Unsigned-Hype Tour in San Francisco in September of 2007 and are proud to sponsored by clothing companies Delta Nine, Drool and Vanguard. Prior to performing with nation-wide acts the group labored every day for 2 years in Lake Tahoe performing independent shows at local bars and gaining a fan base, which they continue to do in their new hometown of San Diego. Outta Control has also been honored to do collaborations with platinum recording artist Mad Child of Swollen Members, Luckyiam and Sunspot Jonz of Living Legends, Metty from Sweatshop Union and Marty James of One Block Radius whom are all featured on their latest self-titled release “OUTTA CONTROL”, which was released December of 2007 and is available on CD Baby, iTunes, MySpace, Mad About Music (Lake Tahoe), Access Hip Hop (San Diego) as well as featured on Pandora (on-line radio). Their first CD, titled “United By Divided Styles” was released in 2006 and while none remain for purchase, all the tracks are available for free download at O.C.T.’s website (www.oct-music.com). As they record for their third full-lengh album their sound continues to evolve and progress. While they retain their rock/funk/underground hip-hop roots the groups sound has become more mature and edgier than their early recordings. Outta-Control has no plans of slowing up as they continue to do multiple shows per month and evolve with the music industry as it changes.
