简介

If you have been waiting for a sound that is innovative and eclectic - it's R&B...it's Hip Hop...it's Soul...it's pop - yet savvy enough to ride the waves of popular radio, look no further. This is a dynamic artist in touch with modern culture, carrying real life stories and messages that will impact those who encounter it. The soulful sound of L.A. native singer/songwriter/producer Ajamu (Ah-jahmu) has been steadily capturing the attention of a wide range of music enthusiasts. From love songs all the way to up-tempo club beats, Ajamu has a style all his own. “I just sing from my soul, so you have no choice but to feel the music,” states the twenty-eight year old crooner. Ajamu grew up the youngest of three children. As a kid he had to entertain himself often. He found that entertainment and love in music. “He would go around the house all day singing songs”, says his mother. She remembered the first performance Ajamu ever gave, which was private concert just for her. Holding a wooden spoon, Ajamu sang every song of the “Never Too Much” album from Luther Vandross. She knew then that he had the talent to entertain many. As Ajamu entered high school he honed his performance skills. Just a freshman, he was chosen to sing the Black National Anthem in front of the entire school for Black History Month. “Of course I was nervous, but once I started it was cool, and I’ve been hooked ever since.” The name Ajamu is Nigerian and means, “fight for what you want.” Creating great music is all Ajamu wants to do. Being influenced by great artists such as Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Otis Redding, Bill Withers, and now days R. Kelly, Ajamu blends some ingredients from the ladder into something he calls “Soul Gumbo,” because his music has a bit of something for everyone. Producing track for an array of local artists such as Doe Mac, G-Lace, the DY-Click, Rio Blade, himself, and countless others, this young man’s career is just starting. In 2005 Ajamu has one of his songs ‘Freak Wit U’ featured on the daytime soap-The Young and The Restless, which is also on his new album entitled “By Myself,” now available over the internet at CDBABY.COM. “All my options are open right now; I could be an artist, write songs for other artists, or just produce if I want.” After a short conversation with this big teddy bear anyone would be impressed by his confidence and how down to earth he is. Its no wonder Ajamu is ready to take the music industry by storm. Justine Wrightman – 2006
