简介

Nasambu Barasa, (Kenya/USA) Afro-Soul Singer-songwriter, producer and founder of the international band, The Mystic Nomads, has captivated audiences on 3 continents with her unique style, a fusion of Jazz, Soul, Latin, and African rhythms that is deeply rooted in her spirituality as a mystic. Nasambu seamlessly vocalizes her poetry in the languages of English, Swahili, Luhya, Spanish and French. Stylistically she pens soul-stirring lyrics to reflect the realities of today's mystic nomads living in a global village. Ethiopian Pianist, Multi-Instrumentalist/producer/songwriter/sound engineer, arranger and composer is passionate about Ethiopian folk, world, pop, jazz and gospel music. Kibrom started his musical career in a very early stage of his life, and had the opportunity to work, perform and record with musicians from all over the world. While attending Los Angeles College of Music, he was fortunate to learn under great musicians such as: Sean Halley (Vinnie Colaiuta, Jerry Marotta, Richard Marx), Andre Knecht, Andrew Murdock (Godsmack, Alice Cooper, Linkin Park), Dave Pozzi (Celine Dion, Diana Krall), Howie Shear (George Benson, Stevie Wonder), Tony Inzalaco (Oscar Peterson, Dexter Gordon) and many others. Nasambu and Kibrom met in 2012 while recording vocal harmonies for the soundtrack of the documentary - Get Together Girls, and have since worked together creating music, and performing with The Mystic Nomads band. In 2014, Nasambu + Kibrom released the music video, Selam, which means Peace in Amharic, exploring the Tizita Minor Scale of Ethiopia with a unique African Classical sound focusing on voice and piano. Now in February 2016, the two musicians are bringing forth an inspired fusion of AfroSoul and Jazz, in a distinct East African sound that created Mercy, the new release that is the official Single for the upcoming 'Peace, Love and Mercy' EP. Sung in English, Swahili and Amharic, Mercy is a song that highlights the mass migrations of nomads around the world, due to civil unrest or the search for a better life. It is a song of hope and yearning for the traveler to find peace, mercy, and a welcoming embrace in the City of the Sun.
