From the moment she first stepped on stage singing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer at a local singing concert, Emily knew that she was always going to be a performer, and has been unequivocally hooked ever since! Her first real introduction to music came playing the violin in front of her classmates at age 7, and standing there in fear not being able to play a single note! After centering herself, taking a step back, and with encouragement and support from her dad, she stood back up bravely in front of her classmates, bringing bow to string and performing again! This cemented both the love and joy of music into her mind, and also instilled the belief that by pushing your boundaries and facing your fears, you could really accomplish anything! This new found confidence and experience led Emily to join both the school's band as a violinist, as well as the schools award winning choir - instantly jumping into the schools ensemble - performing at various competitions, travelling interstate, recording an album, and sometimes performing solos in front of over 200+ people! She loved performing with a group of people in harmony with one another, and she looks back at these memories fondly as some of the happiest moments of her musical and theatrical life, as this gave her a true taste of music and live performance. After high school, Emily never thought that she would pursue or take music seriously, but after being introduced to acting, modelling and songwriting throughout her later schooling years, really began to fall in love with the business, and really believe that you could make a career out of music and the arts! So her first year out of high school, at age 18, she embarked on dedicating 6 months to studying acting and writing songs for what she thought was going to be her first EP - but would later turn out to be the songs on her first album! This time of her life was challenging, because she did not know exactly where she was going, or if it was in fact leading anywhere, but urged on by her parents, friends, and inner calling, continued to pump out song after song, and get back up after each stumble and roadblock. After a series of minor set backs with the production of her music in the later half of 2013, she took a indefinite break from writing and singing to focus on acting. And then through a series of lucky occurrences and introductions, came crashing back to writing, producing her music and telling her story with fellow singer/songwriter and musician Lee Bradshaw. So throughout 2014 Emily spent her nights writing and recording the tracks on her debut album at his studio 'Bradshaw Music Productions' in Melbourne, whilst studying acting during the day! So after spending the past 3 years collectively working on this project, she is proud to announce the up coming release of her album 'Touch The Sun' later this year, titled after one of the singles on the album, which came about as she was reaching for the light at the end of the tunnel, representing that inner guidance and voice urging her on, telling her to "never give up”! Because after all, who knows, if you push through the darkness, keep on reaching for your dreams, and face your innical fears like the little girl playing the violin, you may eventually end up touching the sun!
