Ron Johnson & Mary Mathews are from Florida and this is their first CD together. The songs are easy going, laid back, and you'll find yourself singing along out loud with almost all of these tracks. "Sunshine State of Mind" has a nice, sunny groove that will have you feeling like kicking off your shoes, pouring a margarita and laying back while you forget about your troubles for awhile. Filled with fascinating stories and characters, several of these tunes are not only musically excellent but historically accurate: "The Legend of Bone Mizell," "Mrs. Flagler's Ghost," "The Day Jacksonville Burned To The Ground" and "Everglades Man" all read like short stories in a novel but they're all true. You'll find yourself singing along with the green-conscious "Hey Diddy Down" and "The Cryin' Swamp" long after the CD is over. And the little kids love these songs as well. Get into a reggae groove with the title track "Sunshine State of Mind," which is bound to put you right on the beach, oh yeah Mon. The opening song of this CD "On The Eighth Day (God Created Florida)" is actually being considered for the new state song of Florida to replace Stephen Foster's "Old Folks At Home (Way Down Upon The Suwanee)". Somebody likes this song! This is a great CD but hey, don't take our word for it! Listen to a few tracks and you'll hear it for yourself. This music is a rare treasure and if you love Florida, Jimmy Buffett, or just good laid back tunes, you owe it to yourself to get into "A Sunshine State Of Mind" and purchase this CD!
