简介

“Written In Blood Compilation” from Peace and Balance of Native Movement. The PROJECT: “The lyrics and songs encompass notions of self-respect and social responsibility for youth and those who raise them. It motivates listeners to not give up and to live life to the fullest” Yaiva says, and has dedicated his life to serving the youth, and he delivers his philosophy through a medium which they can hear and understand, music. The “Written in Blood” compilation album is an effort to address the violence in communities of color. Many of the songs are from established artists in the Native music scene who have actively shared their voices on this topic or have been affected by violence in their own lives. What is unique about this album is that there are three new songs from up and coming artists who have lived and survived street life on the reservation and urban communities. The compilation album features Native music veterans such as Casper Loma-Dawa from Hopi, 2006 NAMMY winner Buggin Malone from Oneida, Quese iMC of the Pawnee and Seminole Nations, Aboriginal Peoples Choice Award recipient Wab Kinew, Jaye Begaye, Plex, The Rivertail Singers, Tolteka, Southern singers, Buc Wild, Kelvin Long, Orion and many more. Pow-wow and traditional singers include the award winning hand drum singer Jaye Begay, Southern group Buc Wild of Chinle, northern group Rivertail of Flagstaff, Arizona. Kelvin Long of Flagstaff and also Brian Holmes of Hotevilla, Arizona,. from Third Mesa on the Hopi reservation. Music from the new album can currently be heard on KUYI from Hopi, KSJD in Cortez Colorado, KXTC in Gallup New Mexico, KSUT from Southern Ute, on the Hualapai Tribe on Internet youth operated radio station E-PCH the Peach on the Kidstar Radio Network, on Thundercloud radio online and portions of this song debuted in January 2010 on Native American Calling during Yaiva’s interview about Peace and Balance.
