This collection of songs travels all over the musical map: from jazz influenced tunes backed by the trio New York Electric Piano - "Nothing Can Dull The Light Within", "Four White Men", "Contract" - to country ballads featuring the house band fron Joe's Pub's Pass The Torch series- "Mary Sings the Songs That Make You Cry", "Orphan Love Songs" - to a classical selection sung by the incomparable Sasha Lazard- "Surrender" - to deep rock numbers like " Dream Planet" and "There's a Shadow Over You". This CD includes performances by some of New York's Finest; Michael Wemberley, drummer and musical director for Urban Bush Woman, Jon Andrews, guitarist with Gavin DeGraw and Pisser, Tim Givens and Aaron Comess, who join Pat to make up New York Electric Piano, and Les Decay, who even has a song named after him- "The Shooting Star of Visionary Potential" which Pat delivers solo from the piano. Originally called "Orphan Love Songs" these tunes had been trying to find a home for some time before being gathered here. Pat's song "Shining" was first covered by the band Triple Crown and was a favorite at their shows at the SideWalk Cafe. Likewise "Surrender" was blowing the roof off of Joe's Pub when Sasha Lazard sang it on numerous occasions at Pass The Torch. The song "Contract" was first premiered by Pat at the Martha at Mother's series as a critique of the Martha Graham technique. Two soloists from the Company even got into the act singing it. From there it has worked its way into New York Electric Piano shows, most memorably at Crash Mansion for the release of "Citizen Zen". And then there's "Mary Sings the Songs That Make You Cry" a song destined to find a big audience someday.
