This Gold Record Awarded singer/songwriter continues to bring songs to the world of real life. His music is a reflection of his life, having lived through everything he writes about - or he was there when the story was told! His love still stems from writing and singing the melodies and peoms that show up in his mind. Growing up in southwest Missouri, surrounded by Ozark Mountain Bluegrass, Oklahoma Red Dirt Music and true southern gospel, music was as much a part of life as the farming he and his Daddy did to make a living. A published poet by the age of 7, Kenny Ray was inspired by the music he would hear at church and festivals in the area. He grew up with one of the most prolific gospel songwriters as a family friend, Albert E. Brumley. When Kenny Ray was old enough to understand what Albert E. had accomplished from their small town he began dreaming himself. These dreams led him to Nashville, TN where he found success as a staff songwriter, getting songs recorded by Kenny Rogers and Donnie Osmond and writing with his heros and many new faces that are now the icons of country music. There was a stronger pull on Kenny Ray. He left Nashville in 2000 to serve in the US Navy and found his calling as the lead singer of the only sanctioned Country and Bluegrass band in any military in the world. His plans are to serve his country, retire and return to the road that keeps calling him to perform his original music throughout the US. His Bluegrass/Red Dirt/Country Americana style of music, filled with the stories of our country that are lived by folks who keep this country going.
