Tribal Serenade is an exotic album of world music fusion which combines the traditions of Indian classical music with contemporary jazz and hip hop elements. Indian mandolinist Snehasish Mozumder joins with Canadian jazz pianist and composer Glen Charles Halls to create a sophisticated and romantic album of modern instrumental music. The album features rich sound textures and earthy hand drum and percussion rhythms over which Mozumder plays expressive and often virtuosic mandolin melodies, devotional in nature. Halls provides a rich chordal and harmonic accompaniment with spacious voicings informed by the jazz tradition. The sound of native American flute resonates throughout the album, along with sonic and rhythmic elements of South American, Oriental, and African origin. Snehasish Mozumder: Mandolin.
