简介
david castle is not a newcomer to music or the record business. Growing up in the South, castle, the youngest son of a minister and a schoolteacher, was around music and began playing the piano at the age of three. His professional music career began with a move to Hollywood at age 21. With experiences ranging from touring with The Monkees to conducting the London Royal Philharmonic and appearing live in the U.K. on BBC's Top of the Pops to over 14 million viewers, castle has long been a well seasoned writer and performer. During the 1970's, as a young staff songwriter for United Artists Music Publishing, castle's songs were recorded by Helen Reddy (for which he received a gold record), The Lettermen, Bobby Vinton, Marilyn McCoo, and many others. In 1977 castle released his debut album, "Castle in the Sky," as the launching artist on Parachute Records, a subsidiary label of Casablanca Records and Filmworks. In 1978, he placed a song in the Academy Award-winning film "Midnight Express" and was nominated for a Grammy for Album of Best Original Score Written for a Motion Picture or TV Special. His second album, "Love You Forever," was released in 1979. castle's third album, an independent project entitled "Voice In The Wind," was released in October 1994 and was picked up for national distribution by DeVorss & Company. It made its way on the New Age charts as reflected in the radio/retailer magazine, "New Age Voice" and continues to receive air play on New Age shows internationally. His professional career in songwriting, composing and performing spans over 25 years. In addition to composing, castle served as Music Supervisor on the "Whoopi Goldberg Show," working closely with the Music Director of the show, Jerry Peters, one of the most sought-after jazz pianists/arrangers/producers today. david was also the Music Director on the rock group Kansas' video, "Can't Cry Anymore," arranging, scoring and performing various additional instrumentation as required by the concept of the video. castle's unique scores for commercials have won prestigious awards including The Lulu Award of Excellence, The Buccaneer Award, The New York International Film Festival Bronze Award and The Clio Award. He scored the MCI "New World" spot with his own copyrighted arrangement and recording of "Also Sprach Zarathustra" which aired nationwide. Over the past few years and right up to the present time, various david castle cues can be heard on episodes of E! Hollywood True Story (including the "Cheers" episode, Meg Ryan, Oprah Winfrey, Andy Garcia and Della Reese) and various other episodes of Celebrity Profile on E! Entertainment Channel. david's 4th album, Music For Your Soul, released in 2006, has been critically acclaimed and six of the songs from that album alone have been used in hit tv shows, such as, "Breaking Bad" and "Friday Night Lights" and have been in several films as well. david's past two singles, "I See The Clouds Go By" and "In Your Heart You Do" have been internet radio favorites for some time now. And now, david's first ever Christmas single, "Christmas Every Day" is released and is well on the way to becoming a Christmas favorite!
