简介
"Cavalcade is an ode in its own right—a warm-hearted tribute to some of the city’s most accomplished musicians, and a great way for curious audiences to sample the Island’s sexiest exports." - The Martlet "Cavalcade of the Scars shows that, at least in the case of Victoria, this kind of artistic incest can lead to some amazingly beautiful musical moments. Witness Dante Decaro (of the decidedly non-folk Hot Hot Heat and Wolf Parade) playing an authentic, irony-free, foot-stomping country rag, appearing on the same album as the surprisingly catchy middle-aged folkies Children of Celebrities. Other highlights include Hearse’s “Bonnie Parker,” a dark, accordion-fueled torch song, and Hank & Lily’s bluesy, trash-rock ode “David Hasselhoff.” Granted, I don’t really know a whole lot about this type of music, but after even a cursory listen to Cavalcade, I’m just about ready to dust off my boots, buy some cheap whiskey and hop the first train (or, you know, boat) to Victoria." - Vue Weekly Self Righteous Records is proud to release a collection of songs from twenty of Victoria British Columbia's best indie artists and bands. Chet, David P. Smith, Carolyn Mark, Tolan McNeil, Hank Pine & Lily Fawn are only a handful of those who have all recorded tracks exclusively to be featured on 'Cavalcade of the Scars', helping to make this compilation the most uncompromising and diverse collection of Canadian artists to date.
