On June 27, 2011, the Kennedy Center, in Washington D.C. hosted the a black tie event in honor of our veterans. Hollywood composer, Shawn K. Clement was commissioned to write a piece of music for this special occasion. “Warriors Hymn” debuted that night live, accompanied by a 107- piece orchestra and a 247-member choir with lead vocals performed by Jon Anderson, singer of the rock group YES, who also wrote the lyrics. In attendance included members of each branch of the United States armed services, and of all ranks. The piece received a rousing and emotional standing ovation. However, the performance was not properly recorded. A three-year endeavor to studio record this composition has finally been accomplished. Scores of musicians, singers, technicians, studio personnel, camera operators and others contributed their time and resources to complete this epic four-movement piece of music. Legendary producer Jack Douglas was brought in to helm the project, whose credits include seminal albums by John Lennon, The Who, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick and others. Robin Zander (Cheap Trick) performed lead vocals, Tim Davis (“Glee” vocal arranger) assembled and conducted a forty-piece choir and Dan Potrouch provided additional drum tracks, all recorded at East West Studios (Hollywood, CA). Orchestra tracks were recorded at Skywalker Sound, George Lucas’ recording facilities at Skywalker Ranch (Marin, CA) Hiring Our Heroes, a United States Chamber of Commerce foundation, has partnered with the “Warriors Hymn” project, bringing awareness and support to this outstanding organization that finds quality employment for our military veterans
