In 2013, after two decades in Tucson, Marianne Dissard left her home in Arizona for a patch of sunny Europe. Roaming the interlands of the ol' continent since then, the adventuress is writing her first book, 'The Cat. Not Me: Junk Memoirs Of A Yogini' and peddles her Tucson-inflected, baroque noir chanson fare from the shores of the Brexit kingdom to the smog scrapers of Beijing. In 2016, her Tucson trilogy was given the Best Of treatment by Wax Poetics/Rhymesayers producer and DJ BK-One (the pair had met at Club Congress in 2009 at a Rhymesayers show). Dissard has recorded and toured with the likes of Joey Burns of Calexico, whom she credits for kicking her butt onto a stage, and who wrote and produced her first album, Sergio Mendoza (Mexxrissey, Orkesta Mendoza) who composed her third album), Brian Lopez and Gabriel Sullivan (Giant Sand), BK-One (Brother Ali, Bones & Beeker) Budo (Macklemore & Ryan Lewis), Yan Péchin (Brigitte Fontaine).... but wait! Notice anything!? All guys. Pondering from abroad the reality of her testosterone-powered music legacy, the chanteuse has returned to Tucson to enlist the mirific all-girls, all-Tucson supergroup that will grace her next European tour. A sea change?
