"Unveiled" is my latest project but certainly not my first. I am one of nine children, one up from the youngest. A lot of my existence as a child was piano, singing, being crazy imitating Evel Knieval and The Planet Of The Apes. My brother and I actually made a short 8mm film depicting a scene from one of the movies. Our Mom let us use her brown winter gloves along with a store bought ape mask. My back reminds me on a daily basis of my Evel Knieval days. Music has always been in my family at some time or another. My Grandfather Murphy was in the music biz in New York. He had his own radio hour, was on the Rudy Vallee show and did recordings on the old 78's. That is him singing on the hidden track on The Beloved Few CD. The artwork on The Beloved Few CD has a photo taken at The Russian Tea Room in NYC with The Babe standing next to him blowing his trumpet. Yes, the real Babe Ruth! I started taking piano lessons at 8 years old. At 11 years old, I ended up onstage for my BIG debut at the Waltham Library rocking out "Frere Jacques." Offers poured in after that. In my early teen years I was a radio addict like everyone else but I was effected more by music than your usual kid. With all my older siblings in front of me, I was exposed to quite a bit of cool music before my time. This was the time I heard two artists that would end up molding me into the singer/songwriter I am today. These two very important artists were Elton John and Billy Joel, but I was also heavily influenced by Bad Company and Heart and have since had the privilege of opening up for Heart as well as The Beach Boys and Eddie Money. In the 1980's and 90's I hooked up with the wonderful producer/studio owner of Downtown Recorders, Mitch Bennoff. I recorded over a hundred original songs with Mitch as my mentor and friend. Mitch is currently a Berklee College of Music Professor. At that time I had entered several songs of my own in some national contests and won! I placed first in the Billboard Magazine Song Festival with my song "Kayleigh." Subsequently with David Stefanelli and The Beloved Few we won second place in the International John Lennon Songwriting contest with our song "Please Take Care," which is on our self titled debut CD The Beloved Few (available on CD baby). I worked playing piano bars, writing and recording. Many local and national radio and TV voice-over spots were offered to me, which meant money and some recognition so I took 'em all including "Chevy of America." At this point several songs that I co wrote with other artists were used on the TV shows Melrose Place, Pacific Heights, The Young And The Restless, All My Children and One Life to Live. I continued to work with different people in the studios of the greater Boston area. I worked with the late Brad Delp of the band Boston, Greg Hawkes and the late Ben Orr of The Cars, Keith Diamond of Billy Ocean fame and am currently writing for a new album with Robert Holmes formerly of the band Til Tuesday. In the 90's I formed a band with drummer David Stefanelli called The Beloved Few. Our debut CD was deemed CD pick of the week by the Boston Globe when it was released, sold several thousand copies and is still available on CD Baby. In the late 90's David went on to work with RTZ, Peter Wolf formerly of The J. Geils Band and most recently with Sully Erna of Godsmack. The Beloved Few still does gigs when we aren't busy with our other projects. After The Beloved Few, I picked up right where I left off pursuing my solo career, which included forming a band with Whoopi Goldberg and Billy Joel's former guitar player, David Brown. I continued, writing and performing gigs in the Northeast and met up with a very talented young drummer, Craig Tramack. We have gone on to do hundreds of shows and play together on a regular basis. I have also perform on a regular basis with legendary drummer Dave Mattacks, who has recorded with Elton John, Paul McCartney and numerous other famous artists. In December of 2012, I released my first solo full length CD called "Unveiled." Unveiled is my songs, my voice and my piano. From the edgy uptempo "Captain Indecisive" to the beautiful ballad "Maybe" to the bluesy "It Was Me," I think you will find this CD something you will listen to over and over again...at least that's what the 300 fan's that have purchased the CD so far tell me. Currently I'm writing new songs for the next CD, performing in New England to promote Unveiled and raising my son. Those of you who are parents know which is the toughest and most rewarding job. I've been living my life in the key of F# and that's just the verse...... I can't wait for the chorus.
