简介
Music has always been a major part of Steve Liddell's life. As a kid he remembers the weekends listening old records of the great Soul singers such as Millie Jackson, Teddy Pendergrass, Jackson 5 and Prince. As he got older, he began singing in the church choir and was even a member of a trio singing group. In his adolescent and teenage years Liddell was introduced to many new styles of music ranging from the hip hop sound of LL Cool J, Run DMC, the Beastie Boys and Whoudini to the New Wave and Rock sounds of The Cure, Duran Duran, 10,000 Maniacs, Guns n'Roses, Terence Trent D'Arby(Sananda Maitreya) Sinead O'connor and grooving sounds of Hall and Oates, Sade and Edie Brickell. Growing up in a small rural town he even found an affinity for the honest storytelling of Classic Country from such bands as Alabama, Ronnie Milsap, George Strait, George Jones Dwight Yoakam and others. Building off diverse influences from the past and more recent ones Steve Liddell blends his love for all types of music and adds African and Latin rhythms to create a sound reminiscent of his influences but still his own. "The gift of Liddell's music is that he's adept at blending styles and making it come out with a breezy, comforting quality. His jazzy, world-beat vibes go down smooth and he has the songs and voice to hold court wherever he goes." says Gary Hizer, Music Editor for the Urban Tulsa Weekly. Matt Gleason, Music Writer at the Tulsa World Spot Magazine, says "...Steve Liddell's vocals travel light and passionately over vibrant, groove-oriented landscape that evokes comparisons to Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, and Lenny Kravitz. Gleason goes on to say "This artist's new 11-track studio offering, "Goodlove," finds the soulful singer bolstering elements of his energetic solo acoustic show with his full band. Among the disc's highlights are the spicy flamenco stylings on "The Ballad of Carl and Julie," Latin-flavored, Santana-like riffs on " Yes,Yes,Yes(Rock You Girl)," and soft Wurlitzer on the intimate ballad "Plant Me Underground." Sales from his highly anticipated and well received full band effort cd "Goodlove" have helped get his music and message out to the world. Whether he is rocking the solo gig or backed by his talented band Steve Liddell's music is inviting and engaging and is sure to have everyone moving to it's infectious grooves.
