简介

Dean Jones’ latest CD, Rock Paper Scissors is a genuine party: 18 songs full of fun and mayhem, abetted by the notorious and raucous Felice Brothers. It is the polar opposite of his last solo CD, Napper’s Delight, a lullaby/chillout album, which was one of NPR’s Top Picks of 2007. “Rock Paper Scissors” is just bursting with energy! Accordion, trombone, guitars, bottles and cans, car horns and bass harmonicas abound. The songs are populated by pirates, pocket-sized babies, snoring fathers, muddy kids, singing animals, and butterfingers. The one and only Uncle Rock sings the hilarious spaghetti western sounding "Roncando". Trombone and baritone sax fuel the quirky title song, and there's even a car horn solo on the old time jazz feeling "Butterfingers". There are even a couple of sweet and quiet songs, like "The Littlest Song", featuring Dean's 5 year old daughter Rylie. You will find these songs getting stuck in your head, and I bet you'll have a darn good time singing and stomping along with this music. As the leader of the band Dog on Fleas, Jones has consistently kept exploring and expanding his sonic palette, and has offered up five CDs of fun, thoughtful, inventive music for families. Gutsy and unique, the Fleas are still going strong in their 10th year. Press Quotes about Dean Jones and Dog on Fleas This is one of the smartest, most adventurous children’s album’s I’ve had the pleasure of listening to. Beautiful World is obviously targeted toward a youthful audience, but it’s an album I wouldn’t mind listening to even when the kids aren’t around.” Jeff Giles/ Daddnabbit (Popdose) Dog on Fleas has been performing together for several years now, and it shows on Cranberry Sauce Flotilla, their third CD for kids. Recorded mostly with a single microphone in band leader Dean Jones's living room in upstate New York, the songs exude loads of organic vitality. The group's use of fiddles, tubas, mandolins, acoustic guitars, and an upright piano, combined with their down-home song selections, will make you feel like you're listening to The Band, playing at Big Pink. Warren Truitt/ School Library Journal’s 12 Kids’ Albums You Can’t Live Without (Cranberry Sauce Flotilla is #1 on the list) Press Quotes about the Felice Brothers Probably the most enthralling band currently to be seen anywhere in the world right now. This is as good as music gets. Neil McCormick/ Daily Telegraph The Felice Brothers have always prized storytelling above instrumental chops, and Yonder is the Clock spins its sepia-toned narratives with conviction and authenticity, like a traveling band playing folk ballads by a campfire.
