简介
This Is Carla Rugg was my first CD! It was released in 1996 and recieved a lot of national (Canadian) and European interest. We released 5 singles and 3 videos and I was able to tour Europe twice. A big 'I love you' to everyone in Denmark, my adopted European home! There was never any doubt I'd record and release this project. I only wish I could have released it on vinyl - maybe I'll print a vanity run later on? This Is Carla Rugg came together after a particularly difficult break-up and was part 'scorned woman' and part "healing therapy' for me. Most of the songs are very personal and have direct meaning - but not all. After all, a good song is good and I don't have to have lived the story to share it. Who Says - written by Andy Greatrix - pretty much sums up how I felt then, and now, about so much of female country music. I am not a misandrist, so I won't sing about hurting men. Andy, you nailed it. This isn't Love is a great song about an abused woman getting away from a bad relationship. Not about me, but I have known a few women who stick around for all the wrong reasons and I liked the song! Too Soon To Tell was chosen by the man with whom our relationship had ended. 20 some years later he's back in my life and is friends with my husband, so time does heal all wounds - at least in this case it did. You're Still gone - written by Mark Fletcher - love you! Just Like Jesse James - who doesn't love Cher?! I Will Love Again - I wrote this with Brent Lee - very therapuedic for me! And I ended up working with Brent for 2 years as his bass player. FUN! What you Get is What You See - this is the video that gave me my 15 mnutes of fame. It was played on CMT Canada on high rotation - this is when they only played music videos and not reality TV shows, so there was a lot of airplay. And who doesn't love Tina Turner?! Any Other Fool - the most personal song on the CD. It was very difficult to open myself up to writting such a vulnerable song - and it has kept me on a path of songwriting that rings true. A Little Llove - Stachow/Ferguson (who also wrote This Isn't Love) created this little gem and showed that I am an optimist! The video and song was rejected by CMT Canada as 'too country' and I still stand that it's a great song and video. Real Man - The only song I get to whine on about looking for a real man. They are everywhere! And it's a great song to sing! And who doesn't love Bonnie Raitt?! So, I trust you will enjoy this music. Thank you for purchasing it.
