简介

Mark Grobner has provided therapeutic music in hospital, hospice, and long-term care settings since 2002. He has presented on the topic of Music & Healing at various conferences and seminars including the 2004 Advocate Healthcare Dimensions of Excellence Conference with music therapist Soozie-Cotter Schaufele. Mark's story and ministry of music have been featured in numerous news articles, including the Journal Times (Racine, WI), the Oelwein Register (Oelwein, IA), and the Daily Herald (Lake County, IL), and on television station KWWL in Waterloo, Iowa. "While Mark plays with great technical precision, more importantly is the sensitivity and soulfulness that comes through his delivery" (Ken Kolodner). Mark teaches the hammered dulcimer in Wisconsin and performs throughout the Midwest. He has previously recorded two CDs and produced the compilation CD, "Journey to the Heart , Hammer Dulcimer Expressions," which includes some of the finest hammered dulcimer players in the country. Ken Kolodner is widely recognized as "one of today's most accomplished, musical hammered dulcimer artists" (Elderly) and a fine old-time fiddler. As a soloist and in ensembles -- with Helicon (along with Chris Norman and Robin Bullock), Greenfire with Laura Risk, and with Elke Baker, his son Brad, and many others -- Ken has performed for more than 25 years and is a fixture at music camps and festivals across America. He has been featured numerous times on NPR, the CBC, the Voice of America, German National Radio, and countless radio shows including The Thistle and Shamrock and All Things Considered. His many credits include: a featured solo in an Emmy-nominated CBS-TV Christmas special; more than a dozen recordings; an "Indie" winner, a #1 World Music title (Walking Stones) and bestseller for BMG with over 55,000 copies sold; numerous books and instructional recordings including a recent book/CD on old -time fiddling for Mel Bay. Ken's "world-class" (Sing Out!) playing has been described as "nothing short of astonishing" by the Connection; as "outstanding" by the New York Times, "marvelous" by the Washington Post, and "stunning in its musicality" by Dulcimer Players News. In 2011, Ken released three CDs: "Otter Creek" -- a recording of original and traditional old time music with his son Brad on clawhammer banjo, "Out of the Wood" with Scottish National Fiddle Champion Elke Baker, and now "SunRise" -- hammered dulcimer duets with Mark Grobner!
