The first cut "Soul Happy Soul" was written in 1967 when I decided to stay off of the road and follow the dream that I had, when I was fourteen years old, to become a studio musician. The influences of my masters, Paul Chambers, Thelonius Monk, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, King Curtis, Charles Mingus, Cannonball Adderley, Billie Holiday & John Coltrane gives me the foundation to work with the greatest artist of my era. I was fortunate to record with, King Curtis, Aretha Franklin, BB King, Erroll Garner, Nina Simone, George Benson,the Thad Jones & Mel Lewis Orchestra,Archie Shepp, Wilson Pickett, Don Covay, the Rascals, Les McCann & Eddie Harris, Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Mann, Ben E. King, Bobby Womack, Duane Allman and a host of other incredible musicians and singers. I am the Chairmen of the Electric Bass Dept, of the Richard Davis Foundation for Young Bassist, host Clinics/Workshops on Creative Music, and tour with Southern Rock& Soul icon Gregg Allman.
