I met John Reid and Royce Chambers 15 years ago when I moved here (Lubbock) to study music at Tech. We formed as a trio 13 years ago, and expanded to include a drummer after a few years of gigging. Sometime after our first gigs, I thought it would be fun to sing a few tunes. I feel fortunate to have these guys still on my team after all these years, and excited to celebrate the CD release at our home away from home, La Diosa Cellars, on 12/05/2015. Jerry Serrano. The group has been on a continuous roll since it's inception, in what might be described as an unlikely place for jazz to take root, Lubbock, Texas, on the south plains of West Texas. Those in the know, would however point out that because of the influence of Texas Tech University, and South Plains College, jazz is indeed, alive and well on the south plains, and this CD is at least, some proof of this fact. Recently voted "best jazz band" in a reader's poll conducted by the local newspaper, the Lubbock Avalanche Journal, only added fuel to the fire for us, and served as confirmation that all these years of playing live locally, have not gone unnoticed by the local populous. This CD is not only a gift to our local following, but also a large step for us, into that big world beyond the south plains of West Texas and Lubbock.
