简介
Henry Morgan and The High Grass Boys are, Frank Cotolo, Larry Michelich, John Amato and Kevin Proctor. They formed this foursome for the pleasure of delivering their music live. Cotolo writes the bulk of the material, plays acoustic guitar, harp and sings. Amato plays guitars, fiddle and mandolin, Proctor handles bass and Michelich is the percussionist. Few contemporary artists are highlighting the literate side of songs, performed in a simple, traditional manner, as does this trio. They are fresh, intelligent, humorous and thought provoking. Bands centered on the songwriter are focused bands. They have a goal in mind with each cut and work together to achieve it. Indeed most groups can say this but in the realm of true folk, the lyrics are always center stage and every effort is made to accommodate them; the instruments support and enhance the words. The singer lays them out in all their glory and if they happen to be good lyrics - as Frank Cotolo's certainly are - the result becomes an absolute folk experience. Their recordings are not overproduced which gives them a live quality. The musical results take you back and the lyrics keep you contemporary. It is not hard to imagine that they are in great demand at live venues and since their recording is crisp and interesting there must be a number of CDs distributed amongst the crowds. This is a wonderful band for anyone that loves eclectic folk: ballads, commentary, parody and absurdity - all in one sitting!
