简介
When polled by a recent studio audience, the overly descriptive adjectives that most often came up to describe Nathan Marshall were: unconvincingly delusional, extremely and undoubtedly disturbed, ever increasingly awkward, mildly pungent, borderline cannibalistic, and consistently gassy. Musician, Actor, Director, Producer, Writer, and Creator, Nathan Marshall’s entertainment career highlights include becoming a member of the Screen Actors Guild since 2004, performing stand-up comedy professionally alongside the likes of Chris Rock, Jim Breuer, Jay Mohr, and Harland Williams at prestigious clubs like Hollywood’s The Laugh Factory, Stand-Up NY, Boston Comedy Club, and Dangerfield’s. Nathan is also a 2004 graduate of Bethany College, and has also acted in many projects including NBC Universal's movie Bet Your Life. In addition to those career highlights, Nathan has recently directed and starred in his first feature film, Let it Rip. The extremely low budget mockumentary film was selected to several film festivals, and was met with praise from critics: “A highly entertaining example of what can be done with a lot of imagination, a lot of friends willing to work for free, a digital camera and some editing software. Try to see this fun film in some format. You won't regret it.” –Charlie Calabrese, Theater & Film Critic for The Living Arts Nathan is known around the Ohio Valley and Pittsburgh area for his journalistic work on WTRF-7 News, as well as, his hosting duties for Ohio Valley Tonite with Nathan Marshall, a talk show that airs on WTRF-7 News, and has included a long line of important guests such as Lynn Swann, West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin, Bayside (Warped Tour headliners), former NFL quarterback and current WVU Athletic Director Oliver Luck, musician and father of the world famous band The Avett Brothers, Jim Avett, Holocaust survivor and former Oprah guest, Dr. Edith Eva Eger, etc. “A beautiful, young, sensitive interviewer. The best I have ever been to.” –Dr. Edith Eva Eger (formerly interviewed by Oprah) on Nathan Marshall’s interviewing abilities. Other recent highlights include winning Pittsburgh’s 48 Hour Music Video Project in 2012, travelling to the 2012 48 Hour Film Project’s Filmapalooza in Hollywood, CA, and releasing his fist two songs with the help of the dynamic folk rock band, Essential Machine. In his career, Nathan has been influenced by a strange mix of influences from entertainers like Stan Freberg, Walt Disney, Leslie Neilson, Will Ferrell, and Mel Brooks to people like Jesus Christ, Nathan’s parents (Harold and Linda Marshall), and Harry Potter. Nathan created this album, What Ships Are For, as a special project dedicated to his family and friends. His hope with this album is to inspire future generations of his family to include music in their lives in some form or another, and he hopes that the words in these songs will help those whom he will never have the fortune to meet.
