简介
In 2010 friends John Unruh (Guitar-Vocals-Songwriter), Tom McGovern (Bass-Vocals) and Carl E. Holloman Jr. (Drums - Percussion) were affectionately referred to as "Traitors" by band-mates of their established working bands for doing "outside projects". Using the songs John wrote as an alternative to the music customarily performed in the area the three renegades decided the only appropriate name for the band could be Traitor. October 2010 marked their first live appearance at the Phil Fest (an annual music festival previously held in Sioux Falls, SD). An EP dubbed "Rock With A Questionable Allegiance" followed quickly but was never officially released. The EP was used as a demo disc and given freely to friends and audiences upon request. Throughout the years the band's live performances were few but well received by the audiences with many requests for the band to create an album of their original compositions. In September 2016 John expressed a renewed interest in recording the songs and putting together an album. The band wanted a more substantial sound for the debut album so Ted Holloman (Guitar) was asked to defect from his then current band. Ted agreed and thereby became the newest member of Traitor adding to the songs another interesting layer with his style of rhythm, lead and Wah pedal performance. With the new member of the band in place Traitor held a few practice sessions to refresh some of the existing songs and work out some new ones. In a short time they were ready to start recording their new album. According to John, “We were looking for recordings that accurately reflected the sound of Traitor. I had worked with other local studios during past projects and while those albums were all very good I felt they never actually sounded like the band. Since Carl had a small recording studio in his home and we all knew how he had successfully captured the sound of previous bands he had recorded, we unanimously agreed that he would do the recording, mixing and mastering of Traitor’s first album.” “Without Reason” was completed midyear 2017 and marks the introduction of Traitor and their style of music to the world. “Without Reason” is the story of a man obsessed with a young woman. The unbalanced relationship ends with him being convicted of stalking and murdering her because she does not return his love in the way he desires. The story starts with the opening song “Take A Ride” and asks listeners to open their minds and use their imaginations while listening to his story unfold. Throughout the next three songs his obsession grows. You hear the relationship spiral downward during “Down On My Knees” and “Curious Thing”. The next four songs represent his plummet into depression, frustration and desperate actions that lead to irreparable damage. The story culminates in the last two songs “One Long Day” and “Snake Dance” as he begins the wretched eternal suffering of his final judgment. Traitor hopes you enjoy the ride! You can expect to hear more as the band moves forward.
