"Ambitious, visionary and ultimately gorgeous. Charlie North is the Gods' nectar of ambient music." Nick Luscombe, Flo- Motion, London's 104.9 Xfm "Charlie is widescreen musical genius." Gordon Loncaster, Virgin Radio "With this kind of album, anything is possible." Lindsay Wesker, Music Editor of MTV Networks Europe "A really lovely piece of film and a great track." Briggy Smale, Jo Whiley Show, BBC Radio One " ...a well produced album with a wide expansive sound, perfect for chilling out." Digital Chill Magazine ***Album Review*** "Charlie North’s first solo album is the work of a man set free. From the opening strings of Exit Strategy to the multi-layered finish of Flying Home this is a celebration of space, freedom, and tranquillity. Recorded over the period of a year Find Your Own Space draws on a diverse selection of recordings compiled and recorded during Charlie’s travels around the world. In retrospect it should be of no surprise that an artist with such a diverse musical history should choose to embrace such a broad range of influences. However, what is truly striking is the way in which Charlie manages to create such a cohesive sound. Clearly comfortable with the technical demands of such a project he has wasted no time in juxtaposing live ethnic instruments with complex techno rhythms. In fact tracks such as Time Will Tell and Exit Strategy clearly flourish from this multitude of influences, teasing and surprising the listener at every turn. In a tired and bloated genre Find Your Own Space manages to strike forward into new territory, in doing so Charlie North has created an accessible album that never forgets the basics of melody and structure. This maybe Charlie’s first studio album but it’s in his extensive experience as a producer that this album ultimately gains its mature and masterful resonance. This is an excellent debut from an artist clearly intent on pushing the boundaries." Review by Peter Johnson ***A fews thoughts and stories about Find Your Own Space*** About "Saltwater": If you've ever been lucky enough to go to New Zealand then you'll know that the beaches there are paradise. I was very lucky and recorded this track in a studio on the beach. The experience was always changing with people coming and going all the time. That’s the main reason there are three very different mixes of this track. This version (the original mix) captures the beach parties under the milky way... Pass the Tequila! About "Wide Open Spaces": On the way to the studio in New Zealand we often took the car. It can take ages to travel anywhere. Sometimes it gets so hot the tarmac burns on the road, or you drive so high your ears start to pop from the change in pressure. That's the experience I wanted to capture when I wrote this track. About "Day by Day": I was first approached to remix an Oriation track when I met Rich at one of their concerts last year. For me this track has always been one of my favourites and I knew I could do something different with this mix. About "Flying Home": This song was written on my laptop flying from Norway to the UK. 'Please turn off all electrical equipment during the flight' - yeah right!! Charlie North
