Led by singer/songwriter Mavis ‘SWAN’ Poole and the powerful yet melodic drummer Jeremy ‘BEAN’ Clemons, Soul Understated’s new project showcases what they are known for, exquisite vocals and impeccable musicianship. “On the Shoulders of Giants” began as a series to bridge the gap between established, respected musicians that have totally impacted the planet with their music, and newer modern, artists that are emerging on the music scene. This being the second collaboration between SWAN and BEAN, as they worked together to produce SWAN’s solo project “Soul Tree,” their DEBUT album as Soul Understated promises to deliver new, refreshing, and original music while simultaneously leaning on the style, sound, and feel of amazing artists who came before. “This album pays homage to the masters (giants) past and present on whose shoulders we now stand,” Clemons says. More specifically, the single “Same Ole Groove” kicks off the CD with Mark Whitfield as the guest artist. Russell Gunn, Brian Jackson, Marc Cary, and Chris Rob add even more flavor with their guest appearances.
