A review of Black & White

What I hate most about modern soul and related music is wailing divas and excruciating histrionics - that is why this is so good. All the vocals including the rap are delivered unadorned and very sweetly as a result - no voice processing. Even the arrangement and song are simplicity with surely deliberate restraint. But it gets better - none of that 'baby girl' tosh but at least a contemplative message also delivered with subtlety. I liked this a lot. ftlpope
