简介
White Trash is a funk rock band from Queens, New York. They separated themselves from other bands in their genre with their horn section, called the Bad A** Brass, which gave them a very funky musical sound. They enjoyed great success in the early 90s with several hits on MTV and are still very active. Vocalist Dave Alvin, Lead Guitarist Ethan Collins and Bass Player Aaron Collins formed the band in 1985 and first played together at Aaron's bar mitzvah, doing covers of popular heavy metal bands of the time. They all grew up together in Fresh Meadows, NY. They used several different drummers until three years later, when Aaron's high school buddy Mike Caldarella joined. They signed to Elektra Records in 1991 and released their self-titled debut album that same year. The album was a big hit, fueled by the video for "Apple Pie," which was in heavy rotation on MTV's Buzz Bin. The song reached #39 on Billboard's Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, while the album charted at #122 on The Billboard 200. Despite this overnight success, they unfortunately decided to split up in late 1992. While the band was on hiatus, the other single from their album, "The Crawl", was used as the theme song for MTV's The Jon Stewart Show in 1993 and also got a lot of airplay. Alvin continued White Trash with an entirely new lineup in 1994. Craig LeBlang took over guitar duties, Eric Brodin handled the bass, & Dave Barckow sat behind the drum kit. They released "Si O Si, Que" and two singles were released from the album ("Minor Happiness" & "Pig"). The band temporarily disbanded after completing the tour for the second album and everyone involved went their separate ways, but a few years later they got back together after realizing that there was still a great demand for their music. They released their third album "3-D Monkeys in Space" independantly on bass player Aaron Collins music label Gotham Gold Music, got some great press and then started touring again. White Trash has just finished their fourth studio album "Suburban Purgatory" and is continuing to play shows with most of the original band members still in the line up, including the Bad A** Brass.
