I dedicate this CD to my daughters, the loves of my life: Allegra, Liana, and Mattea Double Song of the Year Contest Finalist songs in 2007 for I’m Falling and Is This Love mark this debut CD of a true songwriter, Paul d’Amore. These well-crafted songs take the listener through “vignettes of emotion” highlighting strong harmonically driven melodies with an emotional impact matched in the music. These are real songs in every sense of the phrase with “appealing melodies” and unique and perfectly structured harmonic rhythm. http://www.songoftheyear.com/webawards/p/pauldamore.htm Critical Song Reviews from the Song of the Year Contest: “…great sense of emotional direction with the choice of words used throughout the material. The music in this piece set the tone and mood of the song wonderfully and pulled the song together nicely. Great demonstration of musicianship. Wonderful structure, every element of the composition came together perfectly. The sound quality is flawless…Great Job!” For Spirit of Christmas I have always written music. This collection of twelve songs represents a small portion of that endless stream spanning the years 1977 to 2006. It is my hope that the harmony driven melodies of these songs place the listener in the moment as “vignettes of emotion”. A few of these songs are, in fact, from my musical, Two If By Two. Most writing, I suppose, is infused with the autobiographical, but only one of these songs is, in fact, just that. The style of the music, however, is truly personal and exposes my beliefs about what the craft of songwriting should be. I forever battle words, but not music. So while the storylines may be universal, their inspiration is music and there is nothing more personal to me than that. This particular collection represents merely the edge of all I have to show. Paul d’Amore was raised in Rome, New York. He graduated from Bucknell University with a degree in Biology and Music. After earning his MA in Music History at The State University of New York on Buffalo, he left the Ph.D. program in music history there to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree.
