Biography Born on December 8, 1982; Barry Antoine spent his childhood between Brooklyn (BK), and Harlem, NY. His mother lived in BK, and his father lived in Harlem. As a child, he could remember always being into entertainment, specifically music. He began dancing at a very early age, just free styling and mimicking what he would see in music videos. His greatest inspiration was the very talented and legendary, Michael Jackson. At age 6, his father enrolled him in dance classes when he realized his son’s love for dancing. Barry fondly remembers his loving aunts, his mother’s sisters, entering him in different talent showcases and competitions. Both of his aunts taught him dance routines and designed his outfits for his shows. After awhile, Barry felt that dancing wasn’t cool for him anymore and decided to get into writing music. At this time Barry was about eight years old. He started writing lyrics to rap music, but suddenly became interested in singing. In elementary school he joined the Glee Club, which lasted for two years. While in the Glee Club, he began teaching himself how to sing by listening to certain songs on the radio and by watching the music channels on television. All through high school, Barry participated in school plays, such as Dreamgirls, where he played Jimmy Early. In college, he recalls performing in the school’s gospel choir, and talent shows. In 2002, Barry and a school friend formed a Rap/R&B group called Deuce. The group performed at well known places, such as Crash Mansion, BB King’s and SOB’s. In 2004, NYC, the group won an ASCAP award for the Heineken Initiative contest with a song they wrote titled “Mistakes”. The contest was held in several cities, such as NY, NJ, PA, DE, MD, VA, CA, and IL to name a few. 2007 was a good year for the group. Deuce had the opportunity to perform on 106 & Park in an R&B and Hip-Hop competition. The group was honored to be the second place winners. In addition, the group was awarded the Underground Music Award for Best Underground R&B Group. Shortly, thereafter, the duo decided to call it quits citing creative differences. To date, some of Barry’s musical influences are talented musicians such as Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Lenny Kravitz, Bob Marley, Big Daddy Kane, Jay-Z, Kid n Play, The Beatles, Krs-1, EPMD, Usher, Dru Hill, Guy, R. Kelly, Tyrese, BlackStreet, Mariah Carey, Sam Cooke, Luther Vandross, Notorious B.I.G, 2Pac, Temptations, Janet Jackson, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Dip Set, Trey Songz, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Drake, Kanye West, and anyone who makes good music to date… Musically, Barry is currently doing a lot of features with local Underground Rap Artist and writing hooks for independent R&B singers. He still manages to continue working on his own album project, which he hopes to release soon. Barry states “I’m a perfectionist, and I want this album to be a classic, something that people can listen to for years and years to come. I’ve always been very serious about perfecting my craft and I’m a firm believer in the saying that you can achieve anything you set your mind to…now it’s my time to shine.”
