In 2013 Carrie Van Sickle and Nathan Zangmeister found they had a couple things in common: they both enjoyed playing Gospel music and eating good food. Once this common ground was established, they decided to have a jam session in Nathan's kitchen just for the fun of it. As the food was baking in the background, they took turns choosing songs out of the old, traditional hymn books. With each song they sang, their smiles grew wider. After a few more jam sessions in the kitchen- and good home-cooked meals- they chose to call themselves Two By Two- a reference to Noah and the ark- and started playing churches, nursing homes, prisons, festivals, and any other place that would open the doors to them. They play a wide variety of music, but focus on breathing new life into the old Gospel hymns and folk songs and also writing original material. Two By Two firmly believes music is powerful in it's ability to raise our spirits and make people feel connected, and they hope you'll feel the urge to lift your voice and make a joyful noise with them, or at the very least, tap your foot and hum along.
