This EP is a collection of my experiences with depression and its after effects. I wrote, recorded, mixed, and mastered it completely on my own in my bedroom in which I spent most of my time while facing depression. The EP starts off on the positive side of things, with one of my favorite songs I've ever written, "Who I Am." I wrote it as a message to myself, reminding myself that despite the pain I was facing and how hopeless everything had seemed, I would prevail and my depression would never get the chance nor the power to define who I was. The next few tracks, "You Said Goodbye," "Come Home, Don't Leave," "You (Interlude)," and "You" capture the pain I faced while I was trying to understand why the people I loved didn't love me back, and how I had to learn to let go of the hope that they would find worth in me, and how I had to accept the way things went since they were in the past so they couldn't be changed. "I Won't Give Up My Fight" is my statement to myself, similar to the vibe of "Who I Am," that I am human and that I know I'll have to face difficult times at one time or another, but I will always be able to find hope and comfort in that a new day is coming and that I have the chance to turn my life around. "Heaven Meets Reality" has a bit of a double meaning. The first meaning, which is why I chose for it to be the last song on the EP, is that it further details the message of "I Won't Give Up My Fight" that I don't know that my life will turn around, because I can't see into the future, but I believe in the truth that I have the ability to get myself to where I want to be. The second meaning is that it captures my feelings for my belief in myself as an artist. Again, although I can't predict my future, the intuition I hold within myself lets me know that I will accomplish my goals of being a successful artist and that I will get my chance to share my music with others, and to help them, and to experience their lives with them, through music. Regardless of the obstacles that have been put in my way, and will be put in my way, I know I have the strength and the support from God to make it, and to make it happily.
