简介
Pop Cautious is the alter-ego of singer-songwriter, Tyler Porterfield. Having thrown caution to the wind, in February of last year launched his own Pop Cautious Records to promote what he calls “the honest resonance of authentic music.” Porterfield, who plays mandolin in the indie-folk outfit Seneca & the River, hit one out of the park when he released the Pop Cautious single, the lush “Blue Dream.” The second single is “Miss Your Face,” a rhythmic love letter infected with a little bit of Rhymin’ Simon. It’s a stylistic turn from the first single, and from the early tracks on last year’s Pop Cautious Records Sampler. Pop Cautious (self-titled) EP revisits the spirit of the singer-songwriter's early youth with distorted guitars and reggae/rock influences. The lyrics from song to song conceptually walk the listener through the story of healing after a break up and dealing with other life struggles that ensued during the writing of the EP. The last track "California" is a tribute to the Golden State and an acoustic memoir of a spirtual journey through the northern countryside. It is through this wanderlust that Porterfield would make the descision to continue to pursue life in Los Angeles as a musician, despite his set backs.
