Born January 17, 1988 in Memphis as Jessica Ray Griffin, Ray realized she wanted to sing at an early age. She loved listening to her father's old school music and pretended she was that artist. At age 6,she started singing for family affairs and school functions. She later joined Mississippi Boulevard Church's renowned children's choir,"Angels of Praise". The choir later recorded a CD which did quite well. At age 11, Ray became a founding member of the duo "Dubble Dose". They later became "Sahara Rose" and was signed to a local label "3PM Music Group". After making special appearances around parts of Tennessee and New York, singing at pro basketball and baseball games the national anthem and entering talent contests, Ray decided to become a solo artist.
