简介
This album is inspired by the practice of Paincajanya: waking up at five am for meditation and kiirtan. Most of the tunes were written while I was singing kiirtan on the front veranda of our home on the Ananda Kamala community here in Australia. The CD cover photo was taken as I finished meditation one morning. This practice has been transformative for me. Not only do I have beautiful meditation at that hour, but the day also flows best for me when I wake up with the sun. Unending gratitude to my guru, Shrii Shrii Anandamurti, for giving us this special practice, and the special mantra, Baba Nam Kevalam, which means "Infinite Love is All There Is." Its nice to finally release a new kiirtan album after so many years! And this took over one and a half years to complete. In between beginning to record the album and finally completing it, our family traveled to South America for nine months! I have loved working with amazing artists on this album. Each one of them is as sweet and gentle, as they are professional and talented. Pix Van-Mason is a beautifully supportive producer and engineer and I loved working in his lovely studio in his old house in the countryside. Most days when I came to sing, he had lit candles in the studio to create a subtle and uplifting vibration. He helped me so much in getting a lovely sound, and also added gentle harmony vocals to many of the tracks. Kim Kirkman plays amazing viola on the album. I was so blessed to have this talented artist agree to perform. He is the past founder of the Ten Tenors and currently the director of the beautiful Lift Gallery in Maleny, as well as director of the Inspiration Choir and several others. I came to see him for vocal advice when my voice was failing and the lovely violist who I had originally planned to work with (Brahmanii) had hurt her arm and couldn't perform. Kim told me I couldn't sing until my voice had healed -- and reminded me that everything happens in the Universe's time. And then also told me he played Viola -- and in fact had done extensive musical studies. And offered to play. Listen closely to the Viola on these tracks. Its amazing! David Crowden amazed me with his counter tenor vocals and stunning muted trumpet. I had no idea such soft and etheric sounds could come from a man and a trumpet! Lee Hardistry's keyboard playing made me cry while I listened to him record.... so creative and touching. He is a multi-talented musician and it was a pleasure to work with him. I hope you are as touched in listening to this album as I was in making it. Each part of the process -- from writing the tunes in the misty mornings, to recording the vocals in candlelight in the quiet of the recording studio -- has been with love and gratitude for the infinite grace behind all.
