简介
New Cycle by Charles Wright is just that. A new direction in a musical journey that has so far taken me through almost every musical style and scenario. This release reflects a good part of that. From mild jazzy funk to the more intense odd-meter fusion grooves, there's something for everyone to relate to on this outing. With contributions from my friends Sean Peck(drums) and Mike Pryor(bass) on 6 of the 14 tracks. Charles Wright (guitar) attended Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC where he honed his skills next to trumpeter Wallace Roney and guitarist Mike Scott (Prince and Justin Temberlake), and under the tutelage of Jazz Ensemble director Mickey Bass (one of the original Jazz Messengers). After graduating from Ellington, Charles spent a number of years working as a freelance guitarist in the Washington, DC area as well as touring abroad. In 1995, he formed the Charles Wright Trio with Sean Peck on drums and fellow Ellington alumnus Mike Pryor on bass. This jazz/fusion unit has since shared the stage with Al DiMeola, Bill Bruford, Marcus Miller, Billy Sheehan, Happy The Man and Ike Willis (Frank Zappa). Charles has two CD's to his credit, 'The Time Is Wright',and Charles' latest solo release, 'New Cycle', and a third CD in the works. He has also performed with the Johnny Artis Band for a number of years. Charles is currently performing regularly with his latest project, 'Aura' featuring musical collaborations with various local and regional artist.
