INTRODUCING: BAS STRUIK Bas Struik was born in Eindhoven (Netherlands) in the mid 1980's and for as long as he can remember, he has been surrounded by music. At the age of 17, he bought his first turntables. His already existing passion for electronic music grew even bigger and bigger after purchasing his decks. He started collecting records and could be found 7 days a week in 'Rare' record store (R.I.P.) in Eindhoven. The first few years, he played a wide range of genres: from techno to minimal and from disco to electro. Artists that inspired him a lot are: Matt John, Omar S, Romanthony, Robert Dietz, Depeche Mode, Reboot, Loco Dice, Mathias Kaden, Luciano, Tim Green, Quenum, Sascha Braemer, Oliver Koletzki, Stimming, M.in, Ricardo Villalobos and Marco Resmann. Bas started out playing on big illegal raves like Diepgezonken, which got him into club nights in cities like Amsterdam, Utrecht, Eindhoven and Nijmegen. One of his memorable gigs in those days, was in the Effenaar in Eindhoven, with Dave Clarke and 2000 and One on the line-up. After a whole lot of club nights, he focused himself on producing for a while. In this period, he got less gigs, because he was completely focused on making music. In 2009, Bas graduated for his audio course at the highly respected SAE in Rotterdam. When he picked up playing at events again in the beginning of 2009, the amount of gigs went up again and he had a slamming live performance at Lief Festival 2009! He also became resident DJ for club Poema in this period. The future holds a lot of good moments for Bas. His Freerange EP is his first release on Lowendcommunity.
