简介
Best known as the drummer for Phil Keaggy's first band, Glass Harp, and more recently as the drummer on Keaggy's incredible Crimson and Blue album,The Master and Musician Tour DVD, and several Glass Harp Releases (2000-2006) John Sferra has a career all his own. On his debut indy CD,Northbound,(1996) Sferra asserts his creative identity. Sferra's sound is unique indeed. Imagine all the Traveling Wilbury's, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynn, Roy Orbison (R.I.P.), and George Harrison combined in one dude. The vocals and melody structures bear the obvious influence of some of those artists. Instrumentally, Sferra stretches the classic rock genre almost into the art-rock neighborhood. At times the songs sound like missing ELP cuts. The production is good, and the instrumentation is extremely advanced. "Let the Bells Ring" almost sounds like it was influenced by Kerry Livgren. On "Will of the Wisp" there's a Paul Weller vibe. It's a nice collection of classic-style rock and roll. - S.B. Patrick
