简介
What if you take a Jamaican born emcee that grew up in the Hip Hop culture, put him on a hip hop track and told him to rap without losing his Dance Hall essence? You ever wonder what that might sound like. Wonder no more. Kali was born and raised partially in Kingston, Jamaica. Influenced by artist such as Shabba Ranks, Papa San, Rakim and KRS-One…Kali developed a melodic style with Dance Hall hooks combined with a rugged Hip Hop flow. He recorded a song titled “Kill Dem All” which caught the ears of then Def Jam A&R Drew Dixon. In 1995 the track appeared on the soundtrack titled “The Show” presented by Russell Simmons. The song received rave reviews for his lyrics, originality and representation of both Dance Hall and Hip Hop combined. After appearing in a movie and doing features on other albums, Kali is now releasing his own album titled “Higher Ranks”.
