简介
We hope you enjoy the music of this recording; these wonderful classics are favorite songs of Dr. Bobbie Bailey, who has been an amazing benefactor for the School of Music at Kennesaw State University (where we all work) and whose joy in music and life inspires all who know her. Making this recording in the concert hall bearing Bobbie’s name is our way of saying “thank you” to the woman whose philanthropy has touched thousands of lives and will continue to inspire and support upcoming generations of students and faculty artists. Oral Moses Bass-baritone Oral Moses has been on the Kennesaw State University voice faculty since 1984, as Professor of Voice and Music Literature. The South Carolina native began his singing career as a member of the United States Seventh Army Soldiers Chorus in Heidelberg, Germany and a member of the famed Fisk Jubilee Singers while attending Fisk University, where he received his undergraduate degree. He was then awarded a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship for further study in vocal performance and opera in Europe. Upon his return to the states, he attended the university of Michigan where he earned an MM and DMA in vocal performance and opera. Dr. Moses has had numerous successes performing with American opera companies. In 1983 he toured Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Austria and ended in Berlin singing the role of Porgy in Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. Dr. Moses also performs regularly throughout the United States and Europe singing concert works, oratorio, recitals and a wide variety of art song repertoire with special emphasis on vocal works of African-American composers. Judy Cole Artist in Residence Judy Cole joined the faculty at Kennesaw State University in 2008, and serves both the School of Music as Collaborative Pianist, and the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies as Music Director for Musical Theatre. She is considered by local area colleagues to be one of the most versatile pianists and accompanists in the Atlanta commercial music scene. Whether playing in the pit orchestra for Broadway touring shows, singing and playing rock and roll and jazz standards with her band, accompanying faculty artists or working in KSU’s magnificent concert hall as a solo artist, Judy is at ease in a wide range of musical styles and genres. With degrees in Piano Performance from UNC – Chapel Hill and a Masters in Collaborative piano from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Professor Cole coaches students in Opera and Musical Theatre performance, as well as teaching music theory classes and related studies in Musical Theatre. She is in great demand as an accompanist both at Kennesaw State University and in the greater Atlanta area, and is known nationally for her ability to arrive, rehearse and perform demanding classical, instrumental and vocal literature all within a span of several hours. Judy is well known to many of the top composers and Cantors in the Jewish music world and has long been the staff accompanist at The Temple in Atlanta. She has been featured on numerous recordings both as an accompanist and as a soloist, and is currently completing work on a textbook for sight singing.
